On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I would like to welcome you to Blackwater Community School. The school has traditionally offered superior opportunities for students to excel. The Board is committed to providing quality educational opportunities. The Board takes great pride in possessing quality teachers and support staff, to provide the high quality of education that is expected for your children.
The school will follow the goals of the Office of Indian Education Program. These goals are: All children will read independently by the third grade, 70% of the students will be proficient/advanced in reading and math, individual student attendance rate will be 90% or better, students will demonstrate knowledge of their language and culture, and there will be an increase in enrollment, retention, placement and graduation rates for post-secondary levels. Through the 21st Century Grant Program students are provided additional experiences in the Pima Language and Culture after school and during summer school intersession.
The Board encourages professionalism and expects the staff to be dedicated and committed to provide a quality education. You are encouraged to meet with your child's teacher at any time if there are any problems or questions, please contact your child's teacher as soon as is possible. If problems are not resolved with your child's teacher, please call or visit the principal.

Mission/Philosophy

The education program at Blackwater Community School is designed to reflect an educational philosophy which recognizes the following core values:

1. An academic program which promotes achievement through the alignment to State standards, while recognizing individual needs and learning styles that support the following Bureau of Indian Affairs' National Goals:
